Joseph - safari guide

Joseph is proudly Maasai and one of our safari guides who has worked his way up through Wayo’s internal guide training programme. After he obtained a diploma in Professional Tour Guiding & Leadership he started off at Wayo Africa as an activity guide taking guests on village walks, canoe safaris, cultural tours and biking treks. Due to his development and increased wildlife knowledge, Joseph became a safari guide and is also one of Wayo’s walking safari guides.

One of Joseph’s most interesting sightings was in Lake Manyara National Park where he and his guests observed some interesting behaviour of a vervet monkey grooming an olive baboon. This inter-specific behaviour is unusual but it is these type of sightings that makes every safari different and helps one realise that it is not only about the Big5. This is why Joseph enjoys taking guests on a walking safari, so as to be closer to nature and to observe many of the overlooked aspects of our wonderful wilderness.

Joseph says “Karibu Tanzania” (welcome to Tanzania) and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge and experiences with you in a safari vehicle as well as on foot.
