Manyara National Park

One of Tanzania’s smaller charming parks

Manyara

Lake Manyara is located on the edge of the Rift Valley and consists of a huge soda lake that covers two-third of the park. It is well known for its large troops of baboons, tree-climbing lions and rich variety of bird-life – from thousands of pink-hued flamingos to pelicans and eagles. Manyara holds a wide variety of habitats, such as groundwater forests, swamps, acacia bushes and the hot springs.

The best accommodation in Manyara:

Lake Manyara Serena

Standing high on the edge of the escarpment, Serena Lodge overlooks the Great Rift Valley and the extensive Manyara soda lake. This African-styled safari lodge is a great option in this area given the fabulous location and that it’s only 20 minutes away from Manyara National Park. The traditional ‘rondavel’ cottages are dotted over a large area, creating good space between one another. The most spectacular feature of the lodge is the swimming pool. It is right on the escarpment rim and has stunning views.
