Mahale Mountain National Park is one of the most remote and most beautiful parks in Tanzania. This isolated setting is home to the world's largest known population of chimpanzees. Go trekking in the Mahale Mountains, swim in the clear waters of Lake Tanganyika, relax on the beach or go fishing or sailing on a traditional dhow. Greystoke Mahale

On the shores of the lake, on a white sand beach, sits this unique safari camp. It's absolutely the best camp in the park. Overlooking Lake Tanganyika's, sheltered by the lush forest of the Mahale Mountains. The 6 furnished bandas are hidden into the edge of the bushes. The rooms are very open with wooden walkways to the bathroom and also to the top deck with great views over the lake. The camp itself is beautifully constructed and very well run. Most meals are taken in the main building or outside on the beach. There is also a charming sunset bar on the edge of the beach constructed of an old fishing boat.

Kumgwe Beach Lodge

Kumgwe Beach is ideally positioned on a private beach with beautiful views of lake Tanganyika. This lodge offers spacious tents scattered along the beach and furnished in the traditional African safari style. The private patio’s offer wide views extending over the lake. Each tent features an ensuite bathroom with a shower. It’s a blend of comfort and luxury in a romantic setting. The surrounding Mahale Mountain forests are home to about a thousand chimpanzees. Guest can go for an amazing chimp trekking or otherwise a boat safari, kayaking, fishing or snorkeling in the shallows along the shore.
