Catherine grew up on a hillsheep farm in the depths of the Lake District. With an upbringing in the wild she has a real love of true wilderness and the unique. Being away from the crowds is a top priority and experiencing those unexplored corners of the planet. It was easy to see how Wayo Africa was a true calling to her.
Despite being brought up in the remote regions of England, Catherine is fortunate to have had a wide range of experiences from working in property to education in all regions of the United Kingdom. She has had the privilege to work alongside people from all walks of life and is therefore key to the communications side of Wayo Africa. With skills in communication, administration, coaching and mentoring, marketing, web development, health and safety, employment, finances, business management and systems management she has been instrumental in the gear-change which Wayo Africa undertook to cope with the new post-COVID world.
Now a carefully managed and successful business once more, Wayo Africa is strong. We are developing and continuing to grow and our powerful reputation of authentic, unique experiences is standing out from the crowd in this new adventure-seeking world. With the business-side more secure, Jean and Catherine are focusing on developing the concept of the true wilderness experience whilst maintaining the unique'. This starts with our relationships with the parks and the training of our guides. Conservation and community is at the heart of everything that Wayo Africa does so now Catherine is building on her years of experience as a qualified senior teacher to develop our training programmes further, contributing to Wayo Africa's commitment to conservation and to the future generations of Wayo Africa guides to come.
