Protect nature
Safari activities
We are the only company in Tanzania that offers travellers the opportunity to spend a few hours out of the vehicle for canoeing, biking or a Walking Safari. We take a few thousand guests on these Safari Activities every year. This way we get a lot of people in touch with the essence of Africa but also limit vehicles use and cut down on CO2.
Walking and trekking
We offer Walking and Trekking Safaris of multiple days (from 2-days to a whole week). Without these multiple days activities these guests would have been driving around in a Safari car. Only a handful of companies are allowed to conduct walking and trekking safaris inside the Serengeti wilderness zones. Wayo is one of them, due to our eco-friendly well managed camps.
Camping
We have invested in Green Camps that are easy to set up and manage, leaving much less impact. We use solar powered lights and have our own water filtration plant. We encourage customers to choose Camping Safaris to avoid energy consuming and high-waste producing hotels and lodges. Our Green Camps have been handmade locally encouraging employment and safeguarding traditional skills in Tanzania.
Leading the way
Wayo does not only “go-green”, we also make it possible for others to do the same. We initiated the stainless steel waterbottles for guests and are encouraging and supplying the industry with these bottles. This way we have prevented thousands of plastic bottles reaching the National Parks.
Benefit local people
Food
All the meals served in our camps are of excellent standard and all raw ingredients are purchased from local markets, local shops and farms putting money back into local communities. We also try to minimise waste in the camps by preparing part of the meals in Arusha.
Guide training
Wayo Africa has been training Safari Guides in Tanzania for more than 15 years and are one of the most recognised Guide Training facilities in Tanzania. We are proud to say that we have trained hundreds of Guides on many of our diverse courses specifically designed for the guiding environment.
Children in the Wilderness
