Here you will find the world’s most diverse wilderness and wildlife. From the Big Five and the Great Migration to the largest population of predators and elephants. Tanzania has a full range of beautiful parks across the country. The Northern Circuit describes a collection of parks which can be visited easily within one itinerary. Most culminate in Serengeti National Park – famous for its vast number of animals and the Great Migration.
At Wayo Africa, we run experiences and camps within the Northern Circuit but also use some of our preferred third party properties in areas where we don’t operate. Our preferred itinerary is:
Arrive in Tanzania. You’ll be met on arrival by a Wayo Guide, and transferred to Rivertrees Country Inn in Arusha.
Morning transfer to Lake Manyara area. Enjoy a village walk in the vibrant Mto Wa Mbu village and taste some local cuisine for lunch in a banana plantation. Game Drive into Manyara National Park in the afternoon to arrive at Manyara Green Camp on the banks of the Endabash River in the late afternoon.
Full day inside Lake Manyara National Park with a morning walk on the lake shores, Game Drive and evening Night Drive. Enjoy another night in the Wayo Manyara Green Camp.
Game Drive out of Manyara and into karatu. Enjoy Overnight in Plantation Lodge.
Full day Game Drive on the Ngorongoro Crater floor. This 14 kilometres of natural wonder shelters close to 30,000 animals. The perfect spot to see the Big Five and the rare Black Rhino. Overnight back at Plantation Lodge.
Game Drive from the rim of the crater into the Serengeti (or fly from Manyara airstrip). Serengeti is renowned for the Great Migration and its incredible concentration of wildlife, particularly the Big Five. Not to mention crocodiles, hippos, cheetahs, giraffes, hyenas, wild dogs, ostriches, baboons and 500 bird species. Overnight in Wayo Serengeti Green Camp. In the months of July – October, this camp will be in the Northern Serengeti.
Game Drives from camp and rest and relaxation. Overnight back at Wayo Serengeti Green Camp.

Head out in the early hours to reach your Hot Air Balloon launching site. Take off and experience the dawn breaking over the Serengeti from the skies. Enjoy Game Drives during the day and then back to Wayo Serengeti Green Camp overnight.
Head out to the airstrip and set off into the skies, over the plains and craters back to Arusha. You can then enjoy a dayroom in Arusha before your flight or carry on to a beach extension in Zanzibar or the surrounding islands.
We love using Chumbe Island for its remote, Robinson Crusoe feel and sustainability thread. Then we like to finish our itinerary with something a little more spoiling such as The Sharazad Boutique Hotel with perhaps a day of exploring Stone Town.
