East Africa is fantastic for wildlife experiences. It also has a stunning coastline rich in history of spice trading and popular with water sport enthusiasts.

Where is the best to go on Safari in Tanzania?

There are an array of different options but at Wayo Africa we like to advocate the true, real experiences where you can gather a mixture of the popular spots but also take in the more remote areas.

We have a Northern Circuit which includes Manyara National Park, rich with its ground water forests, elephants and Safari Activities. Two nights at Wayo Manyara Green Camp is advised, shorter it too little.

Next is Ngorongoro but this is very popular so we take guests to either stay in Karatu just outside the conservation area or on the crater rim itself, but we try not to linger here due to the number of visitors. We then head into the Serengeti, either the North or the South depending on the time of year. We have Wayo Serengeti Green Camp and Wayo Little Green Camp which moves through the Serengeti and is positioned in the best place for the time of year of your travel.

How do I get from Safari to the Beach?

When you book with us, we will handle all our transfers. Flights operate from the airstrips in the Northern Circuit. Our guests normally end their Safari in the Serengeti. We then book you a bush plane that has occasional stops on the way back to Arusha, from here it then carries straight onto Zanzibar. When you land in Zanzibar we will have arranged for someone to meet you at the airport to take you to the hotel.

We can also operate beach itineraries out to the other islands such as Mafia, Nemba, Pemba, Thanda and Fanjove.

Is the standard of service the same on our beach trip as it has been on Safari?

In our Wayo Africa Camps, everything is usually included. Hotels and villas in Zanzibar usually operate on a half-board basis as there is more flexibility for you to explore other locations and restaurants. Fully inclusive is available although it doesn’t often include watersports activities, excursions or fishing. If you are booking a high-end beach property or staying on a private island, these are normally fully inclusive.

How do international flights work on a Safari & Beach itinerary?

Both Kilimajaro Airport (Arusha) and Abeid Amani Karume Airport (Zanzibar) operate international flights. This means that you can book an itinerary with your airline under a ‘multi city’ option where you can arrive into Kilimanjaro Airport and depart out of Zanzibar Airport. You do not need to travel back to your arrival airport if you book this option. The most common airlines which offer this are KLM and Qatar which both connect to international hubs world-wide.
